More features to make better decisions

An update on our software that helps doctors in their daily job:

RAMPmedical software in action

We are happy to announce that RAMPmedical has a new look and feel. On top of that, there are many new features that make our solution more complete. Let’s take a look at that:

Complete Type 2 Diabetes Therapy decision support

The solution presents all the drugs against type II diabetes that are authorized in Germany and several non-drug therapies. It considers all contraindications and drug-drug interactions that could affect diabetes therapies. The database includes data from product characteristics, medical guidelines, clinical trials, and scientific articles.

On top of that, we integrate several guidelines: DDG therapy steps (Germany), EASD therapy steps (European Union), and ADA therapy steps (USA)

Non-drug therapy page

Non-drug therapies have their own description page, where further information can be found about them. Among the description, there are effects, contraindications, side-effects, and sources.

Effect Tables

We now display tables that aggregate all effects towards all endpoints for each therapy we know about. If the therapy helps towards diabetes but also improves body weight and blood pressure, RAMPmedical software displays it in a detail view. Also, it shows how much it is improved (or worsened), the period of time, and for which dosage.

Value Details

Every value shown in RAMPmedical is the result of the aggregation of values from several sources. Now you can verify values and learn about their origin by clicking on them. A list of sources and their quality appears.

As illustrated, the software displays a table with the clinical studies, as well as the supporting values that the chosen value is based on. Relevant information, such as duration of the intervention, the reliability of each value, methodology, and neutrality are shown. The overall value is an average of each supporting value, weighted according to their reliability.

A more user-centered approach

By applying Design Thinking tools, we developed a more human-centric approach to have a deeper understanding of doctors. This means that we put doctors at the center of the design, since they are the users. By respecting their needs and ideas, we made a tool that helps them in their daily work.

By constantly testing and evaluating our software with them, we were able to identify several improvements to make a more intuitive, simpler and easier interface.

Technical improvements

We did a major overhaul of our frontend and backend code. What was once a prototype is now a stable tech solution that we can confidently develop and deploy. The code is based on state-of-the-art programming frameworks, which ensures that we can efficiently develop now and in the future. We’ve also improved our deployment and hosting mechanism according to best practices to be highly scalable and reliable. With this approach we can easily launch new features and very quickly solve issues that may arise.
